Nagahama 88 is a small wine and sake shop in Yomitan, Okinawa.

We specialize in natural wine and junmai sake, alongside condiments, tea, sweets, and snacks—things we have tasted ourselves and would happily bring to our own table.

How something is made, where its ingredients come from, and what the producer believes in all matter to us. But first and foremost, it has to be genuinely delicious.

Not just something that impresses at first sip, but something that belongs at the table. Something you want to drink again—and share with someone else.

In ARTICLES, we will go a little deeper into the stories behind the bottles and foods on our shelves, beyond what we can fit into a short Instagram post.

For readers who are curious about sake and Japanese food but are not sure where to begin, we will also cover the basics in clear, approachable terms—from what junmai means and why serving temperature matters, to how sake fits into an everyday meal.

We will also explore why certain wines, sake, and dishes work so remarkably well together. Rather than leaving it at instinct alone, we may occasionally look more closely at the compounds behind aroma and flavor, and at the science of what makes a pairing click.

These are the stories we will be sharing, little by little, from our small shop in Okinawa. We hope these stories help you experience the drink in your glass and the food on your plate a little more deeply.
